Coffee Pod Machines

Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Coffee Pod Machines

Make Your Own Coffee Pods -v- Buying Them

If you are bit put off by the price of coffee pods, then you could try to make them yourself. I have never tried this myself as I really find buying them easier, quicker and with more consistent results.

However if you do want to give making your own coffee pods a go then you need to have a coffee pod machine for it to work properly.

The first thing that you will need is a stainless steel measuring scoop that will fit into your pod holder. Usually a scoop that is about 1/3 of a cup in size will fit.

You will also need a glass or a jar that fits snugly into the measuring scoop. You will need to buy coffee filters for a four cup machine (Mr Coffee style). The filters must be a tight fit.

So you need to take one of your filters and put it evenly over the end of your jar or glass. Next you will need to press the glass or jar into the scoop until you have a nice tight edge at the bottom of the measuring cup.

Next, remove the glass or jar and then add around 2 teaspoons of ground coffee to the filter. You can adjust this amount to suit how strong or weak you prefer your coffee.

Use your fingers to fold over any excess filter so that the coffee is completely covered – you need to make sure that the folds are even.

The next stage in making coffee pods yourself is to use the jar or glass to press down very hard inside the scoop. Then invert your scoop and you will be able to remove your new coffee pod.

Making your own coffee pods is time consuming, but if you want to save money, it is probably worth a try.
